A Bluey birthday party for kids with licensed balloons, decorations and tableware and a homemade Bluey birthday cake

G’day! If you have young kiddos, you probably know all about Bluey by now. Bluey is an Australian cartoon beloved by kids and parents globally. The show follows a six-year-old Blue Heeler puppy and her family as they remind us how to use our imaginations and have fun together!

If your pups are into Bluey then they’re probably going to be wanting a Bluey-themed birthday party this year. In this article, we’re going to show you how to throw the best Bluey party ever… For real life! Stay tuned for decorating tips and some fun kiddo party essentials.

Setting the Table

Transform your table into a portal to the Bluey universe for your party! Start by covering the table with our licensed Bluey tablecloth, reminiscent of the show’s cheerful colour palette. Next, lay out our Bluey paper plates, cups and napkins for each little guest, we chose dark blue reusable cutlery from our eco-friendly party tableware range. Add some Bluey character centrepieces to bring a little charm and fun to the table, we have Mum, Dad, Bingo and Bluey, plus other adorable additions!

Set out bowls of blue treats and snacks to really bring your theme to life. We chose blue sweets and lollipops, to name a few, as well as a big Bluey cake that we topped with our Bluey party cake topper and birthday candle

You could also opt for treats like blueberry muffins, blueberry jam sandos, bowls of blueberries and bubblegum ice cream or step away from the blue theme and go for fairy bread, a popular Australian party snack! With a little creativity, love and Bluey magic, your table will be the centre stage of an unforgettable kids’ dream party.

Bluey Decorations Galore

It wouldn’t be much of a party without a ton of decorations! For our Bluey party extravaganza, we went all in with the bunting and chose the blue and yellow Bluey happy birthday flag bunting. We hung our Bluey swirl decorations from the ceiling so Bluey and the rest of the Heeler family can bounce along with the party.

Bluey, the TV show, is all about fun, so the objective is to reflect this in your party space. Our colour palette took direct inspiration from Bluey and Bingo, incorporating pops of colour such as yellow and blue. We selected bright and vibrant colours to create a playful atmosphere, as these hues have the ability to instantly uplift the mood of a space while captivating the attention of young partygoers. We made sure to position most of our decorations at a higher level to minimise any potential danger zones for little feet while they run, dance, and play.

We went up, up and away with our balloons for our Bluey party with a big Bluey-inspired balloon arch. The colours, which are representative of Bluey and Bingo’s colouring, can be found here (shop Navy, Storm, Burnt Orange and White Sand). As well as the paw-some Bluey balloon arch, we added Bluey foil balloons to the mix and scattered some Bluey printed latex balloons around for the kiddos to play with.

Bluey Party Games

Bluey and Bingo love to play, just like all the kiddos coming to your party! We’ve come up with a few Bluey party games that will keep the little ones will love and keep them entertained for a while:

  • Bob Bilby’s Obstacle Course: Just like Bob Bilby does in the show, set up a fun obstacle course with cones, small hurdles and tunnels, challenging the kiddos to finish in the fastest time.
  • Bluey Says: We all know “Simon Says”, well this is similar but of course, we had to add a Bluey twist! One player takes on the role of Bluey, giving commands like, “Bluey says rub your tummy” or “Bluey says skip on the spot” and the other plays follow commands. If they fail to follow a command or do a command without “Bluey says” then, you guessed it, they’re out!
  • Find Bingo’s Bones: Hide bone-shaped cutouts, or plastic bones if you have them, around the party area or garden and let the kiddos embark upon a treasure hunt, just like Bingo does!

The Extra Mile

If you’re wanting to go the extra mile with your Bluey party, why not add some more fun additions? We set out some Bluey bubbles to add a little magic and bubble fun for our little guests. Coming in packs of three, these bubbles are also perfect for party bags (find Bluey party bags here!). We gave our birthday star a birthday badge as well as an adorable Bluey costume to wear! We stock fancy dress costumes of both Bluey and Bingo so your little pups will be able to choose who they would like to be.

One element of our Bluey birthday party that we are utterly obsessed with was our “Adopt a Floppy” station. Getting our inspiration from Bluey’s sister, Bingo, we set up some gorgeous Floppies in our adoption station, which we constructed from white picket fence cardboard cutouts for our cute fluffy bunnies to wait in. At some point during your party, be it the beginning or the end, you can let the kiddos choose their own Floppy to take home with them - for real life!
