Top tips for throwing a baby shower on a budget

A baby shower is a lovely opportunity for the mum-to-be to spend time with her closest family and friends before the baby is born, and it shouldn’t take too much organisation. Here are the main things you need to think about:

  • Decorations
  • Party food
  • Party games
  • Party favours

Simple decorations

Like all of our parties on a budget, we’d recommend keeping your decorations simple for optimum effect!

There’s no need to spend a fortune on loads of décor – a couple of carefully chosen decorations will be more effective. How about a couple of paper pom poms?

Balloons never go amiss as baby shower decorations – they cost relatively little and if you choose the right colours, they can look really cute and stylish. We chose this lovely pack of multi-coloured moon and stars balloons!

Buffet on a budget

The next stage of organising a baby shower on a budget is the party food! And to avoid one person bearing the whole cost of the buffet, we’d recommend asking each guest to bring a contribution.

It’s a good idea to decide in advance who’s bringing what – that way you won’t end up with ten plates of sausages rolls! Make a list of everything you need and ask each guest to choose something to bring.

Printable baby shower games

No baby shower would be complete without a couple of games to keep your guests entertained. Here are a couple of our favourite baby shower games that are actually fun and cost virtually nothing to play!

It’s the thought that counts so a piece of cake, a small candle or some other small token of appreciation would be perfect.
